OMNIBUS BUSINESS TRIP TO EMIRATES AND SAUDI ARABIA POSTPONED TO 2021
After the executive committee of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) accepted the request of the United Arab Emirates government to postpone the Expo 2020 Dubai to the next year (it will be held from October 1st 2021 to March 31st 2022), the Italian agency Omnibus decided to postpone the business trip to United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, strictly related to Expo Dubai and reserved to the Italian exporters of fresh fruit and vegetables and fresh cut, planed from May 25th to 29th 2020.
The next dates will be communicated by next September 1st. The companies which have already confirmed their participation to the trip – the list includes some important names of Italian fresh produce industry – can withdraw from the subscription until September 1st.
The Arab buyers, informed of the decision, approved the choice because wise, respectful of everyone’s health security at a time when the epidemic and the consequent alarm have not passed yet and there are no certain forecasts on the return to normality. Arab importers and distributors have expressed their desire to resume relations and to arrange meetings with Italian exporters as soon as possible. In the meantime, Omnibus will keep active all existing relationships.
The Italian Section of the Commissariat for Expo 2020 underlined that the BIE has asked member Countries to express their opinion on the postponement’s proposal for a final decision. There is still time until 29th May for the official confirmation of the Expo Dubai’s postponement to the next year but we can consider that the decision is already taken.
